Trinity, Rockschool, UNISA and ABRSM Exams
Our standard course is Grade based (1-8), but also offers Post Grade learning. It includes theoretical, practical, hearing test and improvisational components, based on internationally recognized standards. Each lesson has already been planned with full lesson plans available to you, so that you always know where you are in the material, what comes next and how many lessons remain until you complete the grade.
Each grade takes between 12 and 16 weeks to complete. Progress and performances are gathered and stored through the keeping of a portfolio of evidence on a memory storage device. Should you move or choose a different music school, this portfolio of evidence can be used to show your progress.
We also facilitate your learning and help you to easily pass internationally recognized Courses, like Rock school and Trinity School of Music.
Trinity College London Syllabus:
Grade 1, the entry-level exam, focuses on the performance of basic pieces and scales. By contrast, Grade 8, the most challenging level, requires students to demonstrate a range of skills, including improvisation, sight-reading, and a deep understanding of music education and theory.
The first five grades serve as a measure of a student’s early musical development, with each grade earning them a certificate. Grade 5 is a pivotal point, acting as a prerequisite for Grades 6, 7, and 8, and introducing a theoretical component. Students cannot bypass Grade 5 to move directly to Grade 6, regardless of their existing skills. However, if a student’s initial skill level is high enough, they can start their examined musical journey at Grade 5, skipping Grades 1-4.
From Grade 5 onwards, students must take Grades 6, 7, and 8 sequentially, along with corresponding Theory exams. Each grade contributes a certain number of UCAS points, which are considered when applying to higher education institutions. Typically, music colleges require students to have completed Grade 8 before they can be accepted.
Performance is at the heart of Trinity’s graded music assessments as we believe that musicianship is most effectively demonstrated through practical performance.
